At peax, we believe in celebrating the people behind the projects that make a difference. In our “people around peax” series, we spotlight people in the digital product community who inspire us with their talent and passion. Today, we introduce Danbi Kim, a UX/UI Designer & Brand Specialist with a global perspective and a unique approach to design.
01 Meet Danbi Kim
Danbi brings business sense and user-focused creativity to her work. With corporate communications and design experience in South Korea, Japan, the US and Germany, she bridges cultural nuances in her projects.
“Empathy is my starting point,” Danbi says. “Design is more than aesthetics—it’s about making a positive impact.”
Outside of work, Danbi loves crafting, calligraphy and solving creative challenges—skills that help her design meaningful user experiences.
02 Designing for Cultural Diversity
Danbi’s experience living and working in different parts of the world has shaped her design philosophy.
“For Korean users I focus on dynamic visuals and detailed descriptions, for German users simplicity and functionality is key,” she explains. “The challenge is to balance global consistency with local sensitivity.”
One example is a global rebranding project for a company with 35 countries. Danbi and her team developed universal brand guidelines and adapted visuals and messaging to local norms. So the brand identity stayed the same across regions.
03 The Link Between Brand Identity and UX Design
Danbi calls brand identity and UX design two sides of the same coin:
“Brand identity defines the emotional and visual presence, UX ensures the experience matches that identity. Together they create impactful and seamless user journeys.”
Her favorite example is Omio, a travel booking app. The app’s consistent use of color, typography and user-friendly design makes the experience and brand identity memorable and unique in the market.
04 Looking Ahead: Trends and Technology
Danbi believes AI and AR/VR will revolutionize design by bridging cultural gaps:
“AI helps us research and adapt designs to different cultural preferences, AR/VR allows us to create immersive experiences that transcend language and cultural barriers.”
05 Final Thoughts
Danbi’s story reminds us of the power of empathy and creativity in designing for global impact.
